Allan Griffin
Thursday, June 2, 2011It was with great sadness that we learned that Allan Griffin passed away on May 19, 2011. Allan was an admired member of CIFAR’s community, not only because of his work in theoretical physics but also because he was a kind and devoted individual to many people around the world.

Allan Griffin was a fellow in CIFAR’s Quantum Materials research program and a Professor Emeritus of Physics at the University of Toronto. His work on the theory of ultracold quantum gases contributed greatly to a new and important focus of the quantum materials research community. Allan published widely in his field, including books that he authored and edited.
Allan was a brilliant researcher who drew great admiration and affection from all those who were privileged to work with him. We will all miss him.
Our sincere condolences to his family.
