Researchers break new ground in quantum computing by merging expertise in quantum physics and semiconductors
Monday, November 28, 2011
Two CIFAR researchers – NRC’s Andrew Sachrajda from our Nanoelectronics program and Université de Sherbrooke’s Michel Pioro-Ladriere from our Quantum Information Processing program – are part of a collaborative group that hopes to create powerful quantum computers. The researchers are putting their minds together and taking advantage of semiconductor technology to demonstrate the potential for a scalable spin-based quantum computer. In today’s information age, quantum computing holds the promise of faster computers that are able to solve much more complex scientific challenges with even greater security. NRC Canada profiles the team’s work, which was recently published in the prestigious journal Nature Physics.
