Scientists create new insulator for potential use in electronics

Scientists have created a new topological insulator that could be potentially used in electronics. Topological insulators conduct electricity only along their surface – and they do so efficiently. The team, including CIFAR Associate Ian Fisher, shaped the novel insulator into thin, tiny plates, and showed that they can also control the flow of current through it. This control is essential for pursuing the future application of these insulators in electronics.Read more
